Synchronize bookmarks between different browsers

Xmarks multi browser sync
Xmarks multi browser sync

Main browsers have a sync option for your favorite pages. They also synchronize other history data. This built in synchronizing option works well if using different computers, you just need to login to the browser with your user credentials (email and password). It also works well to keep sync with your mobile devices too. But if you like using different browsers or need to use different browsers for work, you'll need something else.

Xmarks, now acquired by LastPass, will keep Safari, Firefox, and Chrome bookmarks in sync. It is free to register an account. Install the Mac OS X application for Safari or the extension for Firefox or Chrome. Use the same account in the settings, and you are done. Plus! it also works with Microsoft's Internet Explorer. No support for Opera browser yet. You'll need a premium account for support on mobile devices and backup & restore features. Deactivate browsers own backup to avoid duplicate bookmarks.

Xmarks is one of those small utilities that works in the background. Once you have set it up, you can forget about it, it just works!
